- I'm far too lazy and sleepy to do the recap this week sorry
Dream 4 begins:
We wander a vast barren landscape. Black sludge envelops us and grips us and we are restrained. We feel a massive feeling of loss and desolation. Maggie tells us to resist and that we must look.
INITIATIVE
The dreamscape shifts one last time:
A terrible scene fills your vision. The angel you saw earlier is surrounded by a throng of fiends, flanked only by two bloodied, human knights wearing the insignia of high ranking generals. For a moment, it seems like they will be able to hold against the devils surrounding them, but then a mighty pit fiend emerges, wearing a devilish grin and a cruel blade. In one fell swoop, the pit fiend severs the angel’s hand at the wrist, sending her sword flying far away. The vision begins to darken and fade then, just as the legion of devils finally bury the three valiant warriors beneath their unending numbers.
A huge, dark throne of skulls, blades and bones stands before you. Seated on the throne is a slim, red-skinned devil more than 13 ft. tall, wearing luxurious black and red robes. The angel kneels before the throne, a human paladin kneeling on either side of her. All three are beaten and bloodied, looks of utter defeat on their worn faces. To the 4 right stands an enormous pit fiend wearing a sardonic grin, seemingly presenting the captives. The devil on the throne speaks - the dream muffles the words, rendering them inaudible - and a contract appears in a puff of black smoke to float eerily in front of the captives. The pit fiend seems to roar in protest, but a stern look from the figure on the throne silences the fuming devil. Meanwhile, an angry, resolute look comes over the angel’s grim features, and after only a moment of hesitation, she signs the contract with a bloody finger. As she does, her wings melt away to blackened vestiges, her golden hair withers to bare her pale scalp, and her glowing halo becomes a ring of infernal fire. One paladin bows his head solemnly, before putting his own finger to the contract, immediately sending spasms through his form as it darkens and transforms, turning into something vile and evil. The other paladin roars in grief and anger at the sight of his comrades’ betrayal, and swiftly snatches a dagger from his belt and slices his own throat. His limp form falls to the ground to lie completely still, blood flowing thickly from the deep gash in his neck. Just before the dream fades to darkness, you see the fallen angel leaning over to touch the body, a dark glow spreading from her fingers to cover the paladin’s still form - and the paladin’s eyes reopen, though his gaze remains cold and lifeless.
As the dream fades we reopen our eyes back in Fort Knucklebone. Skraps asks Lulu what happened or something like. She says a lot happened, Some various discussions happen. I'll be honest I cannot keep up, I'm so sleepy. Lulu got away. She doesn't know how. There seems to be suspicion towards Lulu from Cassandra? Idfk. The figure on the throne is clearly Asmodeus, Maggie says. The ones who were present might know where her sword is or something idfk. Maggie knows of Bell, the Pit Fiend who was there. He was the former ruler of Avernus before Zariel. They hate each other. Noone has found the sword before as fas as we know (nor the hand). Someone's gotta know.
Lulu speaks up and says she knows the other guys. Olanthius and Haruman. Maggie knows someone who can help find them, a distant cousin called Red Ruth who lives out in the Bone Brambles. Cassandra asks about Mordenkainenen, and then at the same time the shield asks the same thing. Balsam wants to meet Red Ruth. Aurelia wants to see who is closer. We pull out the map but we fully cannot determine distances from the map for a multitude of reasons. Maggie says Mordenkainenen stays in the Tower of Urn, to the maybe east if it hasn't moved. She says she can't lead us but that we have impressed her so she has a gift for us, We can have the tormentor, which is a car.
She also comments on what to do about Tzon who she knows wants to kill her. Tzon tells Balsam that they have to knock him out, but as he does he immediately takes Gaes damage taking him out, Cassandra spares the dying on him. Balsam thinks that they did it tho with their mind. We are offered to sleep here for the night. Cassandra suddenly remembers her stew and rushes off to check it. Its gotten a bit thick. Maggie tells us that infernal war machines run on soul coins. It has one in it.
MECHANICS TIME: Demon ichor boosts it but it does weird shit, something about soul coins powering it a bit better i think idfk soul coins can be fed into a slot that powers the furnace it destroys the coin, the soul becomes trapped in the war machine instead. 1 charge is worth 24 hours. If it's still trapped by the time it ends, the soul is destroyed. fuck I wish I could focus tonight. She hands Aurelia a stack of 3 soul coins.
SOUL COIN LORE HERE! Play bg3 to learn it or whatever. You feel stuff when touching it. Something about limits to non evil creature holding it related to constitution and disadvantage if you have too many? it has 3 charges that can be used for stuff Idk It doesn't regain charges. 1 charge left in the vehicle. Aurelia puts her coins in her bag.
Maggie tells us to make ourselves comfy and fix him before she has to kill him. I tie Tzon up and throw 14 hp from a cure wounds. Tzon hears a voice tell him to free himself. We start feeding him stew and lie to him about his options of killing Mad Maggie. We all eat our holy water stew. it still tastes like shit.
Cassandra says she can slowly send us back to BG? some weird convos about us staying and cassandra being a weirdo about all of it and is like tryna do it on her own? Idk Aurelia is all like "what the fuck?" More and more fighting between Aurelia and Cassandra. They keep arguing. What happened to their flirting? that was more fun. She then switches to arguing with Skraps. Aurelia has been in a damn mood. Cassandra seems weird. Skraps and Aurelia punchy talks, her life is worth one punch or something? She says she'll take the punch.
We eat our stew, Maggie has been watching all this drama. Lulu is sad at all this conflict. We make our way to bed.
CALLED IT EARLY!
